Five British Films You Must See
The British film industry has its ups and downs since it began in the early 20th century. The film began in Britain with the expected production of William Friese Greene first known moving image on celluloid. In the 119 years, there have been many successes and failures that have affected not only the film industry but British culture.
Film fans have only favorites that have inspired, inspire and entertain them at different times of their lives, and this list is, exactly. I’ve been watching British films for nearly thirty years and we have people like (1983) Gandhi, The Full Monty (1997) and views of the Queen (2006) Impact of world cinema, while successful in other variety tasted the UK.
There is no special formula for a British film success, although my sense of choice “Five British films you should see” instead of specifically British. That the location, accent, dialect or cultural references – each of my five British films is a quintessentially British production.
A Clockwork Orange (1971)
Directed by Stanley Kubrick in a futuristic London, A Clockwork Orange is based on the novel of the same name by Anthony Burgess is based. The film has good reviews on its release including gaining four nominations for the Oscars. But after a series of crimes known supporters, Kubrick withdrew the film after receiving several anonymous death threats.
Again this is only on the film’s release in 1999 that the British public has been regularly observed in a position masterpiece of celluloid in almost 27 years. The film seems to be the futuristic setting has not in nearly three decades on the shelf at the age of timelessness. The characters speak in a mixture of cockney and Russian that extra dimension to the dystopian reality. Strongly influenced pop culture in a music video with Bart Simpson Halloween Costume, A Clockwork Orange is a blurring of film’s most influential and controversial of all time.
Trainspotting (1996)
Director: Danny Boyle, Trainspotting follows the story of Mark Renton and a group of his “friends”, most of whom are heroin addicts. Located in Edinburgh, shows the history of the explicit problems with intravenous drug use, and far from glorifying it safe to condemn the actions of public figures.
The role of Renton helped launch the careers of Ewan McGregor as he escapes his parasitic friends and makes new life to free himself from heroin. The disadvantage that envelopes the film and the characters make each scene as Renton always miss him even try to “choose life”. To what extent are the main characters and the credits roll, how you feel just a very special film.
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998)
1998 saw the advent of the modern gangster film with British Guy Ritchie, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Cool, elegant and dirty, the film was a success as the British gangster films were virtually nonexistent. The film also led the former footballer Vinnie Jones and Jason Statham as an actor. The combination of Wi-uber-cool with cockney accents and dress very well and you have the perfect gangster film in London.
Based on theft of drugs and money, the plot weaves together several stories into a climatic shoot-out which means almost all of them killed. The film has provoked a wave of interest in British comics and many other films trying to replicate its success, however, Guy Ritchie came closest when he was again a high proportion of votes for a similar film called Snatch. The gangster film Modern British, was, again, 26 years after Michael Caine in Get Carter as standard.
28 Days Later (2002)
The only real horror film on the list 28 days later, the form was broken when it exploded on screen in 2002. Apparently Dead “films of George A. Romero ‘, Danny Boyle, the second film was influenced on the list mainly shot on digital video. But this was not the main topic of discussion during the film, was born to a new zombie. A highly contagious virus spread in the United Kingdom and has infected the majority of the UK population, but unlike Romero, Boyle Zombies are fast, aggressive hunters.
The plot follows Jim as he awakes from a coma in the streets of London. They were spectacular, magnificent scenes where Westminster Bridge, Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Street empty when police helped temporarily closed parts of London is in short intervals. The result is truly breathtaking and adds a haunting loneliness, misery, Jim, as he searches for other survivors. The film clearly influenced the 2004 remake of Romero’s Dawn of the Dead, the zombie behavior strikingly similar to that of in 28 Days Later. For zombies will never be the same, and I have the other Brit called zombies, Shaun of the Dead “, which again changed the face of modern horror-comedy, with its version of the classic zombie film.
Dead Man’s Shoes (2004)
Perhaps my favorite performance of each actor in a film that perfectly vengeance Paddy Considine as Richard in Dead Man’s Shoes. Located in the Midlands, like all films directed by Shane Meadows, Considine returns to his hometown after a period in the British army. The public does not take long to see that Richard is looking for a group of criminals who tortured his brother to avenge. Considine performance is exciting because it goes from psychotic to fraternal in no time.
As the story progresses, the film shows various flashbacks as the brother of Richard Anthony suffered a small group of local criminals. Anthony is played by Toby gifted in his breakthrough film role. Richard dispatches each member of the gang one by one, until it is just him and bats left more passive. He asked to be killed, he had slept with his brother and after a threat to humans, children have suffered a fatal stab wound to the heart.
This is a great film with some of the best performances of certain players low profile. Shane Meadows has written and directed other films that are close to top 5, including a room for Romeo Brass and more recently This Is England. Meadows is a rising star of British cinema and has the potential to become the most renowned filmmakers in the world.
For the top five British films before dying. Agree or disagree, be sure to watch movies and you’ll never have the feeling that Hollywood is the only place, good films will be made. The British have a fantastic films for many years, will continue to do so for many years.
